From: "Ben Preece" To: Subject: [sc-announce] PenguiNet 1.1 released Date: Sun, 7 Jan 2001 21:39:39 -0000 Dear Silicon Circus subscriber, PENGUINET 1.1 RELEASED! "PenguiNet", the Silicon Circus Telnet and SSH application for Windows, has now been updated to version 1.1 and is available for public download from www.siliconcircus.com Over the last nine months, we've listened to what you've had to say about PenguiNet, and have worked hard to make it a more functional and easy-to-use Telnet and SSH client. The major changes in PenguiNet are: ------------------------------------------------ * NO MORE BANNER ADVERTS We've listened to your comments about the Aureate/Radiate advert banners, and so we've now chosen the more traditional 30-day timeout instead. After 30 days of use, PenguiNet will stop working unless you register for a keyfile. It is however, fully functional during this period of evaluation. ------------------------------------------------ * SSH PORT FORWARDING With port forwarding you can create an encrypted "tunnel" between your computer and another host, in order to keep the transfer of your data secure. Please see the updated documentation for more information. ------------------------------------------------ * TOOLBAR As well as the normal application menu, PenguiNet now has a compact toolbar. ------------------------------------------------ * BUGFIXES AND UPDATES Lots and lots of tweaks, too numerous to list here. To check out what in depth what has been done, take a look at www.siliconcircus.com/penguinet/changes10-11.txt ------------------------------------------------ PenguiNet is shareware, and after a 30-day evaluation period will cease to function. For unlimited use, please register the program for 15UKP (24USD) at the Silicon Circus Shop, located at www.siliconcircus.com/shop/ If any bugs, problems, or incompatibilities have been missed during PenguiNet testing, please contact us through the website, or use the Bugzilla system at http://support.siliconcircus.com to submit information. We look forward to your comments on PenguiNet, and any suggestions you might have for future versions.
